Faqs - The most frequent questions
What
happens on my first visit to a Still Clinic?
The first visit is essential for an overview
of the situation and to set up the most suitable therapy. It is
run by two professionals and is in two stages. Initially, the doctor
gathers all data (including x-rays, laboratory examinations, etc.)
and examines the patient. At this point, the osteopath comes into
the picture: s/he runs a series of specific tests (posture, mobility,
kinesiologic tests) to more accurately identify the cause of the
illness and define the most appropriate therapeutic approach. This
may include both complementary therapies (Vega Test, homeopathy,
acupuncture, oxygen-ozone, dentistry, dietology, and hydrocolon)
and traditional therapies.
What
will the osteopath do to me during the therapy sessions?
It all depends. If the illness is in an acute
stage, there will be specific treatments to reduce the pain and
restore mobility to the lesioned area. At the end of this cycle,
there are check and stabilisation sessions to reorganise posture
mechanics and avoid a recurrence of the symptoms.
Are the adjustments painful?
Not in general, or if they are, they are within
the limits of physiology. In any event, the osteopath will take maximum
care in minimizing any pain.
Are the any contraindications to osteopathic treatments?
No, because osteopathic medicine adapts its techniques
to the patient. However, there are contraindications for particular
adjustments (at high speed and minimum amplitude) which must not
be effected on patients with a risk of fractures, with bone inflammation
or degeneration pathologies. The first visit also serves to detect
these cases, for which specific techniques are available.
How long does an osteopathy therapy last?
That depends on the case. One or sometimes two
treatment sessions per week are necessary in acute stages. The subsequent
restructuring sessions can take place once a month, and check-ups
every three months.
